When it comes to pets, you will agree with me that you will not come to a conclusion without talking about dogs.

I recently bought a dog, have trained it for some time and i am here to expose some facts about dogs that you probably didn't know about them.

Dogs are wonderful pets, they keep you company, makes you smile and can make you forget your sorrows.

Dogs are like human, they fear, feel and can response to stimuli. Though this article centers more on Lhasa Apso dogs which is the one that i own however, their behavior is the same for almost all dogs.

I bought my dog from a friend of mine who is also a veterinary doctor. We attended same church. He gave me the dog as well as the dog card. The dog card outlined all the details of the dog as well as all the vaccines it has received so far. 

If you are planning to own a dog in the future, then i advise you to also get the dog card. The dog can save you a lot of stress in a case where your dog bite anybody. In that scenario, all you will need to know is to show the dog card to let people know that you have been very diligent in administering all the vaccines your dog need to be healthy and safe around people.

Rabies is a very deadly disease that can be transferred from a dog to anyone that the dog bites. To avoid endangering the life of anyone that your dog bites, there is need you regularly give your dog all the vaccines they need to receive as they grow. 

The tendency of your dog having rabies in itself increases as you expose the dog to the public, not minding what it eats or what bites it.

To the best of my knowledge, bats are the major carriers of rabies and once you expose your dogs to the public with monitoring it, there will be chances of the dog being biting by a bat.

That being said, 100% domestic dog that you use as your pet will have lower chances of having the rabies virus compared to the dog that was carelessly exposed to the public. To be very sure of the your safety and that of your dog, there is need you vaccinate your dogs are advised by vet doctor. 

I have personally been a victim of dog bite. That was when in was younger. The bite was very close to my organ and I actually did not go to the hospital for any treatment. I know it's very risky however, all glory to God that it did not get out of hand. 

Dog care

Its one thing to own a dog and another thing to have the safety of your dog at heart. Some dog owners does not care what their dogs eats or where they. This behavior is very wrong because you will not be sure of what they dogs have eating or what have bitten the dogs in any way.

Once you own a dog, there is need you have a vet doctor around that will be giving you some advise on the things you need to do and the things you need to avoid for the safety of your dog.

In the 1st - 4th month of a dog, there are important vaccines a dog needs to take. The anti-rabies vaccine is a must for the dog except if you have have your safety or the safety of the people around you at heart. The anti-rabies vaccine for the dog is normally like 6 months after the birth of the dog except if your vet doctor advises otherwise.

If you are planning on owning a dog, know that you will spend on the dog both on food and on vaccines/drugs plus other grooming. For my dog, i use to birth him weekly to keep him neat enough to climb my bed if need be. I also feed my dog with the food that i eat except for the spiced foods and foods prepared with onions. The research i have made in the course training my dog shows that dogs are not supposed to eat onion so be cautious when you own your dog.

Over the months, i have learnt some behaviors of a dog and will share some of them with you as we progress. If you finally own a dog, make your own research aside this article for a broad view on dog.

My observations owing a dog

In the course of owning my dog, the below are some of the things that i observed about dogs. They are thus;

1) Dogs are also like human. They feel everything that human feel including fears just that they don't talk. They can only bark to express some feeling or fear.

2) As you can train a human, you can also train a dog and you can best train them with treats and consistently repeating anything new you want them to know till they have learnt what you want to learn.

3) Dogs lick every part of you as a way of expressing their happiness around you. There is no part of you a dog can not lick including your sours.

4) When are dog is excited, the tail of the dog will keep moving in all direction.

5)  A dog stretches its body like human beings do especially after sleep and can open his mouth wide as a way of yawning.

6) Dogs can sit at a place and just staring at the owner. This happens when they are relaxed or waiting to see if there is a reason to run to the owner.

7) If you gave your dog a name or there is a particular name you normally call your dog, the brain stores it and anytime you call the name, it will respond by either staring at you or moving towards you.

8) Dogs can feel scratches and can either scratch with their back legs or with the their mouth.

9) Dogs normally bring out their tongue but if their mouth is closed for any reason, then know that there is a sound they heard. They are calm to hear the sound again and then react to it if there is need to.

10) Dogs can actually bite the owner but if you want to avoid cases like that, there is need to buy toys for your dog and always play with them. It helps them bond with you. Mine always take my socks and any other toy looking object around him.

11) Dogs heart beats faster when they are frightened or excited especially when they want to run to their owner. Their hearts can also beat very fast when they feel some level of trait around them.

12) Dogs can sense the presence of their owner even when they are distant from them and they can stay far from you when they want to relax and probably sleep.

13) Dogs can sense when they make you angry and when you don't want them around you. In that situation, they can give you some space but once they feel that your anger has subsided, they will come around you, licking all part of you. That is the dog saying i am sorry.

14) Dogs can sense when you are possibly in danger. This scenario triggers to bark or run after the person or animal that is possibly about to attack you.

15) Dogs hearts beat very fast when they are afraid of feel some level of trait around them.
